Start and Finish circuit

As suggested by Kangaroo Island Bicycle User Group. Bike SA.

Start and Finish at the wharf.  

Distance 37 km allow 3-4 hours for the ride plus stops.

Road type is 80% dirt with some sections sand or corrugated.

Directions

Head southwest out of American River for 3 kms. Choose the bitumen or the Investigator Trail along the water's edge parallel to the road for 2kms.

At the Muston Road intersection is Independence Point. Here you will find a memorial to the first ship built in South Australia. Great place to see water birds.  

Follow Muston Road for 5 kms until you reach Hog Bay Road. Turn right and then just 100m along turn left and cycle 1.2km to Pennington Bay.

Go back to Hog Bay Road and turn left.

200 m on the left is the track to the base of Prospect Hill. Follow Hog Bay Road for 4 kms and turn right onto Boundary Road 100m after the American River turnoff.

Follow Boundary Road for 7.5 km then turn right onto Red Banks Road. After 4 km turn left down Flea Castle Road and cycle 3 kms to its end at Redbanks on the North coast. Return up Flea Castle Road then ride 5km along Red Banks Road back to American River.
