We're Open. We're Safe by the ocean amongst the wildlife
South Aussies now is the time to explore your own backyard across the water!
2020 has certainly been a challenging year for most of us. This once in a life time pandemic event following on from the once in 50 years bushfires we have experienced throughout Australia has hit us hard on Kangaroo Island.
We like many other accommodation and tourism providers lost our international bookings but with the help of Tourism SA the BookThemOut campaign, Sealink discounts and local community support we found Australians where keen to come and visit our beautiful island and we were happy to welcome them with special deals, local produce and special wildlife experiences.
Then borders were closed and Australians went into lock down like the rest of the world. Guests had to put their holidays on hold for now as they were advised for their own safety, not to travel. Easter and the school holidays were celebrated at home this year while everywhere was closed.
It has been sad to see our lovely apartments sit empty day after day, knowing that South Australia and KI in particular must be the safest place on the planet at the moment. But authorities have their medical reasons which we respect and are thankful for their diligence.
Better some short term pain to avoid a real health disaster. We know Aussies will return in the not so distant future and eventually international borders will open as people will want to travel again when it is safe to do so. Kangaroo Island will become more attractive than ever.
The news is the spread of the virus in Australia and SA in particular is under control. It is heading in the best direction now and restrictions are easing in South Australia as we all plan our next holiday in our own back yard South Australia. Cafes, restaurants and attractions are opening up after winter.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Sunrise on Falie with 'open arms'.
